Alex Palkovich, Sculptor

A swift glance around the creative working environment of Alex Palkovich will suggest to the visitor that this is an individual of wide-ranging talents and abilities. Alex’s pieces have an intense focus on detail and a commitment to making his vision explicit. His abilities as a keen observer combine with a significant intellect, humor and sensitivity to provide added dimensions to his work.

Artistic expression is not new to Alex. He began drawing and sculpting as a child in the Carpathian Mountains of the USSR.  As with all of Alex’s work, the focus is primarily on creating an original, dynamic and emotive composition with a great deal of energy. It is the nature of the artist to see things differently and, in the case of Alex, he is drawn to those things which challenge his mind and stimulate his intellect.

After the USSR, an advanced degree in mechanical engineering gave Alex the opportunity to work in Israel, Mexico, and the UK before moving to the US with General Electric. He was an executive with GE for the last eight years until his retirement this July, 2007. He has received numerous awards and exhibited around the world as a member of the Oxford Arts Society and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Alex currently resides in South Carolina.
